And Vijay was later sent back to the shop floor after a maintenance engineering exam he passed was changed to a fail by training officer Duane Doherty, because he was Asian.

The tribunal agreed he had been racially discriminated against at the factory in Burnaston, Derbys.

Chairman Chris Goodchild said of Mr Doherty: "He acted deliberately because of the applicant's race."

The Nottingham panel will decide later if Vijay, of Derby, will get a payout. Vijay, who is still at the plant, said afterwards af·ter·ward   also af·ter·wards
