With Web Advantage Silver, BBN customers and Business Partners can cost-effectively and easily publish information on the World Wide Web (WWW), including graphics, sound and video, without having to install, operate or maintain extensive computing and networking resources required for a Web site.

Web Advantage Silver complements current BBN Web hosting services, Web Advantage Gold and Web Advantage Bronze.

The new service provides all of the computing resources needed for Web sites, including a powerful, high-end UNIX Web server configured with Netscape Communications HTTP server software, File Transfer Protocol (FTP), and Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP). Web Advantage Silver also provides a high speed 10 Mbps Ethernet connection to Internet routers and a direct connection to the Internet at 45 Mbps or greater.

Additionally, Web Advantage Silver offers round-the-clock Web site monitoring 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year via the BBN Network Operations Center (NOC).

Availability and Pricing

Web Advantage Silver includes 60 MB of disk storage and will be available to customers starting at $295 per month through BBN Planet and BBN Business Partners by March 26, 1996. Additional disk space is available for $1 per MB per month. Data delivery in excess of 300 MB per month is available for $0.18 per MB. A one-time server installation and configuration charge of $495 is required.
