London, Nov 10(ANI): The BBC's "creative risk taking" is alive at the corporation despite recent flak from the BBC Trust directed at one of its comedians, the BBC's Director-General said.

The BBC's Director-General Mark Thompson said that even though the corporation has received frequent complaints from writers and comedians that a culture of political correctness has emerged, it was prepared to stand by controversial decisions, such as inviting the BNP BNP B-type natriuretic peptide, brain natriuretic peptide Physiology A 32-residue peptide hormone produced predominantly in the ventricles, secreted in response to fluid overload–eg, CHF. See Atrial natriuretic peptide.  on Question Time, The Times reported.

Earlier, the BBC Trust had rebuked Frankie Boyle for describing double Olympic gold medallist Rebecca Adlington as "somebody who is looking at themselves in the back of a spoon" on Mock The Week Mock the Week is a British topical panel game, hosted by Dara Ó Briain. It is made by independent production company Angst Productions and made its debut on BBC Two in June, 2005. .

Many critics, including Claudia Winkleman, Clare Balding, Clive Anderson and Rick Stein, criticized the remark.

Thompson also supported Boyle over his programme and said that he "wanted Mock The Week to be on the edge" and wanted "people to have the space to do their best work".

He also said that the incident did not mark the "beginning of a BBC Taleban". (ANI)
