BBC Technology to Provide Video Networks with Managed Service to Deliver Content for Broadband Television.

), the London-based broadband television company, will be using its Media Communications services to manage content delivery for its new broadband interactive services. ) and an extensive coding and multiplexing service at its Digital Operations Centre. Services will include: channel reception, circuit connectivity, encoding, multiplexing, as well as content distribution to VNL's video headends prior to broadcast.

Currently in the final stages of operational testing, VNL's service will go live to existing subscribers in March this year. External feeds from VNL's channel content providers will be carried over the LMG -- an expanding fiber-based content distribution network encircling encircling (en·serˑ·k  London that allows the broadcast community to exchange content -- to BBC Technology's Digital Operations Centre for coding and multiplexing. Compressed content will then be redistributed over the LMG to VNL, where it will be combined with interactive and on-demand service elements. VNL's content will subsequently be delivered to its customers across its broadband cable network using ADSL See DSL.
