BBC Technology to Provide Strategic Consulting Services to Chile's Canal 13; BBC Technology's Consulting Practice to Deliver Strategic Plan for Chile's Most Respected TV Broadcaster.

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands -- BBC Technology, provider of products and services to global media-driven organisations, today announced an agreement with Canal 13, Chile's most respected television broadcaster, to provide strategic consulting services that will support the development of Canal 13's three-year growth plan.

The strategic consulting engagement will include a team of experts from both BBC Technology's North American and UK Consulting Practices. The consultants will provide Canal 13 with analysis and advice for the broadcaster's future strategic direction in keeping with the organisation's mandate to deliver programming that supports high social content and family values, while transitioning the broadcaster to digital broadcast technologies that will help Canal 13 improve operational efficiencies.

Some of BBC Technology's senior consultants will work on site with Canal 13 in Santiago, analysing all areas of Canal 13's operations, including technology, organisational structure, production, programming, operations, finances and new media. Based on the results of the analysis, BBC Technology will make recommendations to Canal 13's senior management on strategies to increase audience share and viewer satisfaction while maximising their revenue to cost ratios.

According to David Rosenberg, consulting practice manager, BBC Technology North America, "Canal 13 is taking a critical step to increase its importance in Chile's cultural environment. The company understands the need to manage for future growth, and changing market and technology demands."

Edgar Spielmann, Canal 13's director of strategic planning, explained: "BBC Technology is the only multi-discipline broadcast consulting organisation that actually comes out of the broadcasting industry. It has demonstrated that it has an integrated global team of experts who intimately understand all aspects of broadcast operations. While large IT consulting firms may have pockets of knowledge here and there, only BBC Technology can deliver a team of industry experts to us on the ground at our headquarters in Santiago. The BBC Technology team will work closely with our management and employees to produce a strategic, operational and technological roadmap that will help make Canal 13 the unsurpassed leader in Chilean broadcasting."

Mitchell Linden, senior vice president, BBC Technology North America added: "With so many more considerations in today's broadcast environment, our customers are looking for strategic support to help them deliver their long term business aims. With our heritage at the heart of the BBC, plus the work we are undertaking with other major broadcasters such as ESPN and DIRECTV, we can help manage the changes required."
