 yesterday admitted conning viewers of Red Nose Day, Sport Relief and Children in Need with fake phone-in contests.

The Beeb confessed their own staff posed as phone-in winners on this year's Comic Relief in a contest to win Sharon Osbourne's shoesandfrock.

And in a Children in Need contest run by BBC Scotland in 2005, producers invented a fake winner. All BBC phone-in contests have now been suspended.
