BBB to design culture center.The gracious French Concession section of Shanghai, China--an area in the northwest corner of the Luwan District Luwan District (Simplified Chinese: 卢湾区; Traditional Chinese: 盧灣區; Pinyin: Lúwān Qū , known for its high-end shopping, diplomatic missions and elegant, historic buildings--will soon become home to a major new cultural development. Through an international competition, the Shanghai Planning Bureau has selected a design by the team of Beyer Blinder Belle Architects & Planners LLP LLP - Lower Layer Protocol and Balmori Associates Landscape Architects for redevelopment of the important site. In addition, Beyer Blinder Belle has also just won a competition organized by Changping Municipality to refine the master plan for an historic area north of central Beijing. The firm has now won both of the international competitions it has entered since going into the China market in October 2004, with Yu (Yuni) Wang, AIA AIA - Application Integration Architecture , as Director and Chief Representative of its Beijing office and Richard L. Blinder, FAIA FAIA Florida Association of Insurance Agents FAIA Food Additives and Ingredients Association (Kent, UK) FAIA Fellow, American Institute of Architects (honorary position) , as Design Partner. |
