BAe AIRBUS Selects IXOS.UXBRIDGE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 30, 1999-- IXOS SOFTWARE AG (Nasdaq:XOSY, NEUER MARKT:XOS XOS Xylooligosaccharides XOS X-Ray Optical Systems, Inc. XOS Experimental Operating System XOS Extended Operating System XOS Cross Office Slot XOS X-Ray Optics System XOS Any Operating System ), the leading provider of software solutions for the management of business documents in the SAP(TM) R/3(R) environment, announced today that British Aerospace British Aerospace (BAe) was a UK aircraft and defence systems manufacturer, now part of BAE Systems. History The company was formed as a statutory corporation on April 29, 1977 as a result the Aircraft and Shipbuilding Industries Act. will implement IXOS-ARCHIVE. British Aerospace Airbus (BAe), one of the four partners in the European Airbus Industry consortium, has selected IXOS Software to provide a data archive for its SAP database and to help store legacy documents from nine other systems. Following a major SAP enterprise-wide system implementation, British Aerospace needed to ensure that the business and transactional data produced by this system could be stored in a cost effective yet readily accessible way. IXOS Software was selected because it could provide SAP data archiving and legacy document archiving in the same repository, and because of its close relationship with SAP. The aircraft manufacturing industry demands extremely rigorous standards in the storage of documents and data relating to relating to relate prep → concernant relating to relate prep → bezüglich +gen, mit Bezug auf +acc all areas of the manufacturing, sales and support of aircraft and related products. Some of these documents and data must be kept for fifty or sixty years. BAe's current systems were not Y2K compliant Capable of correctly processing any data that deals with a date beyond the year 1999. See Y2K problem. and the data within them had to be ported to new millennium compliant systems. British Aerospace will implement IXOS-ARCHIVE to automatically archive 50Gb of data from the core SAP system every month. This will ensure that the business systems are kept at their most responsive by reducing the data overhead. Archived documents will still be retrievable and are linked into the SAP Workflow The automatic routing of documents to the users responsible for working on them. Workflow is concerned with providing the information required to support each step of the business cycle. and thereby related to the actual transactions within the SAP systems. In addition, BAe will be using IXOS-UniversalARCHIVE to manage the legacy documents within a common archive. Currently, there are individual databases for engineering information, spares, purchase orders and despatch documents among others. The IXOS implementation will allow the storage, management and retrieval of all of these non-SAP documents in a single repository. Users will benefit because they will be able to retrieve these documents through a common interface. The predicted growth of our SAP data could threaten the responsiveness of that system, and we had data in a number of legacy systems that we needed to transfer to millennium compliant systems. IXOS-ARCHIVE and IXOS-UniversalARCHIVE will give us the capability to achieve both of these aims with a single archive that integrates seamlessly with our ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) An integrated information system that serves all departments within an enterprise. Evolving out of the manufacturing industry, ERP implies the use of packaged software rather than proprietary software written by or for one customer. systems." Erich Gerber, Managing Director of IXOS Software in the UK, added, "This is our second major deal at BAe following a similar project with the company's Land and Sea division.
