BAZAIRE NAMED A DIRECTOR OF INDEPENDENT BANK SOUTH MICHIGAN

 LESLIE, Mich., Nov. 17 ~PRNewswire~ -- Keith Bazaire has been appointed to fill a vacancy on the board of directors of Independent Bank South Michigan. Bazaire, 54, is president of Carter's Food Centers, Inc., a 15-store supermarket chain headquartered in Charlotte, Mich.
 Edward Swanson, the bank's president and chief executive officer, announced the appointment and commented, "We are extremely pleased that Keith Bazaire, one of the leading businessmen in Eaton County, has agreed to join our board. We look forward to his participation in the deliberations of our directors because we are confident that his business acumen and experience will allow him to make a significant contribution to the advancement of the bank."
 The new director is a long-time resident of Charlotte. He is currently a director of the Charlotte Downtown Development Authority and is a past president of both the Charlotte School Board and the Charlotte Lions Club. He and his wife were team leaders in the recently completed fund-raising effort to finance restoration of the historic First Congregational Church in Charlotte. He is also a past chairman of the Michigan Grocers Association.
 Bazaire attended Michigan State University where he received a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering. He then earned a master of science degree in chemical engineering at Ohio State University.
 Independent Bank South Michigan is an affiliate of Independent Bank Corporation, the Ionia-based bank holding company. The bank operates full-service offices in Leslie, Charlotte, Eaton Rapids, Olivet, Pleasant Lake, Potterville, Rives Junction, Vermontville and Williamston.
