BAX: WE WON'T START CRUES-ING.

has urged his players to continue "closing the gap" on Belfast's Big Two.

The Crues are rated potential title candidates after finishing third in the Premiership and lifting the Irish Cup last season.

But Baxter knows the Seaview club's credentials will be severely tested in today's trip to face Linfield at Windsor Park.

"Linfield are a big club with big resources and it will be tough, but these are the kind of games we should relish," he said.

"I believe we have narrowed the gap and we have secured some very positive results against them in recent times.

"But my players know they have to continue closing the gap, not just on Linfield but also on Glentoran who finished above us last season."

Linfield - already without injured strikers Curtis Allen and Kevin McHugh - are also missing Jamie Mulgrew, who was injured in the midweek County Antrim Shield The County Antrim Shield is a Northern Irish football competition. The competition is open to senior teams who are members of the North East Ulster Football Association (originally the County Antrim & District Football Association) (membership of which extends beyond County Antrim  win over Ards.

It is a massive blow to boss David Jeffrey, who also has a derby league date with Glentoran looming large on the horizon on Tuesday.
