BAWT launches new program. (Bay Area Wilderness Training).


The Youth Wilderness wilderness, land retaining its primeval character with the imprint of humans minimal or unnoticeable. In the United States, the Wilderness Act of 1964 established the National Wilderness Preservation System with a nucleus of 9 million acres (3.  Leadership Training will provide under-served and at-risk youth with opportunities to develop skills that will strengthen their relationships with peers and adults in their lives; acquire competencies in wilderness leadership and safety; and develop leadership skills that will serve their communities. Modeled on the adult training sessions (pictured at right), the youth program will work with those who have already demonstrated an aptitude for positive leadership in a social or school setting, and are affiliated with an organization or adult who has participated in the Wilderness Leadership Training. By participating in this program, youth will learn to co-lead outdoor adventures. Through training and outdoor trips they'll gain self-esteem self-esteem

 will work with Bay Area School of Enterprise The Bay Area School of Enterprise (BASE) founded in 2001, is the first youth created charter high school in the United States. It was created by 10 youth and 2 adults working in the afterschool program HOME Project to create a school for non traditional students.  (BASE).
