BAUSCH & LOMB RECEIVES CLEARANCE TO BEGIN MARKETING DIPIVEFRIN HYDROCHLORIDE OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION USP, 0.1%.


ROCHESTER, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 27, 1995--Bausch & Lomb (NYSE/BOL) announced today that its U.S. Pharmaceutical Division has received clearance to begin marketing Dipivefrin Hydrochloride di·piv·e·frin hydrochloride

An ophthalmic adrenergic that is used in drop form in the initial therapy for controlling intraocular pressure in chronic open-angle glaucoma.
 Ophthalmic Solution USP USP - unique sales point , 0.1%, a generic equivalent to Propine(R)(a). Dipivefrin HCI (Human Computer Interaction) Refers to the design and implementation of computer systems that people interact with. It includes desktop systems as well as embedded systems in all kinds of devices.  Ophthalmic Solution 0.1% is indicated for lowering intraocular pressure in patients with chronic open-angle glaucoma.

Dipivefrin HCI Ophthalmic Solution 0.1% compliments Bausch & Lomb's existing products for lowering intraocular pressure, including OptiPranolol(R) (Metipranolol 0.3% Ophthalmic Solution) and Levobunolol Hydrochloride Ophthalmic Solution, which are two ophthalmic beta-blocker solutions, and Pilostat(R) (Pilocarpine pilocarpine (pīlōkär`pēn), naturally occurring alkaloid obtained from plants of the genus Pilocarpus (family Rutaceae).  Hydrochloride hydrochloride /hy·dro·chlo·ride/ (-klor´id) a salt of hydrochloric acid.

Annual domestic branded and generic industry sales of Dipivefrin HCl Ophthalmic Solution 0.1% total more than $45 million.

Since November 1993, Bausch & Lomb has received a total of 25 new product authorizations, including Crolom(TM) (Cromolyn Sodium Ophthalmic Solution USP, 4%) indicated for the relief of symptoms associated with vernal conjunctivitis, a seasonal allergic eye condition, and Tobramycin tobramycin /to·bra·my·cin/ (to?brah-mi´sin) an aminoglycoside antibiotic derived from a complex produced by Streptomyces tenebrarius,  Ophthalmic Solution USP, 0.3%, a widely prescribed antibiotic for superficial eye infections.

Dipivefrin HCI Ophthalmic Solution 0.1% is one of an ongoing series of new products being manufactured and marketed by Bausch & Lomb's U.S. Pharmaceutical Division headquartered in Tampa, Florida.
