BAUSCH & LOMB ANNOUNCES EXECUTIVE REALIGNMENT FOLLOWING RESIGNATION OF RONALD L. ZARRELLA.


ROCHESTER, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 16, 1994--Bausch & Lomb (NYSE/BOL) has announced a realignment re·a·lign

responsibility for Bausch & Lomb's Miracle Ear Division. o Dwain L. Hahs, 42, has been named President of the

Europe, Middle East and Africa Division. Hahs joined Bausch

& Lomb in 1977 and was most recently Vice President - Field

Operations of the Europe, Middle East and Africa Division. o Stephen A. Hellrung, 47, has been named vice president,

secretary and general counsel. He was most recently vice

president and general counsel of the company.

Zarrella joined Bausch & Lomb's International Division in

1985 and was named President and Chief Operating Officer in

February 1993. Zarrella was also a member of the company's

board of directors and served on its Management Executive

Committee. Commenting on his resignation, Gill acknowledged

Zarrella's many contributions to the company notably his

direction of Bausch & Lomb's growth strategies outside the

United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area. . "We wish Ron every success with his new

Bausch & Lomb said it does not plan to name a successor for Mr. Zarrella. Rather, it will seek to maximize the benefits of a leaner, flatter reporting organization directed by senior executives with extensive experience in the company's businesses. Executives previously reporting to Mr. Zarrella are now reporting either to Daniel E. Gill or other members of senior management.
