The Los Angeles County Fair The Los Angeles County Fair (also called simply the L.A. County Fair) is an annual event held in the Fairplex in Pomona, California, held every September. It is a carnival with rides, merchants, food vendors, cooking contests, and livestock. The 2007 L.A. wine competition began in 1935. This year there were two added competitions, one for extra virgin olive oils, which drew 28 entries, and a wine package design competition. Separate judging panels examined the olive oils and wine bottle labels. The public will be able to taste many of the entries (wines and olive oils) and many of the winning wines at a fund-raising event today at the Millard Sheets Gallery. As in previous years, the wines will be available for tasting at the County Fair, Sept. 14 to Oct. 1. For ticket information, call (909) 865-4231 or (909) 865-4233. |
