 bands and artists from the North East are being given the chance to win a week of studio recording time with the Evening Chronicle's Battle of the Bands 2008!

The event is open to bands and artists from across the region and the winner will receive five days of studio recording time at Blast Recording in the Ouseburn Valley The Ouseburn Valley is a cultural oasis in the East end of Newcastle upon Tyne, England.

Now spanned by three impressive bridges, the Lower Ouseburn was the focal point for the beginnings of the Industrial Revolution in Newcastle with Coal brought from the town Moor along the
, plus 500 professional demo disks.

Janet Heaney of the Evening Chronicle The Evening Chronicle is a daily, evening newspaper produced in Newcastle upon Tyne, covering Tyne and Wear, southern Northumberland and northern County Durham. It was founded in 1885 by Joseph Cowan.  promotions department said "We want to find the best unsigned bands from across the North East to go head to head in the Chronicle Battle of the Bands.

"There is no age limit and the competition is open to people who play all different kinds of music, and it is not just bands who can enter, individual artists can too. The Battle of the Bands is about discovering the best music in the region."

The mp3s received will be uploaded on to www.chroniclelive.co.uk/battle of the bands for readers to listen to and will be reviewed online and in paper. The best received will be put to the public vote to win the studio time and 500 discs.

Please include your band/artist name, address, daytime telephone number, e-mail and a small biography of the band including how many members it has, the type of music played and website details, to ec.competitions@ncjmedia.co.uk.

Entries must arrive by Friday, March 31.
