Hart visits the Vikings at 5:15 tonight in the final regular-season match for both teams. The Indians (15-7, 8-1) can take sole possession of the league title with a win and the Vikings (14-11, 7-2) need a win to claim a share of the title. Hart clinched at least a share of the league title Tuesday night with a victory over Saugus.

Valencia, which has won three straight league titles since sharing it with the Indians in 2003, is looking to avenge a·venge

a five-game loss to Hart on Oct. 17. The loss put coach Ray Sanchez's team into a tie with the Indians atop the league standings, but a loss to Canyon Country on Oct. 24 put the Vikings a game behind Hart. The Indians' loss to Saugus on Oct. 12 also helped Valencia stay close.

``With the parity parity or space parity, in physics, quantity that refers to the relationship between an object or process and the image that it can produce in a mirror.  we have in this league, the champion can easily have two losses this year,'' Sanchez said.

It was supposed to be a rebuilding season for Sanchez's team. But it didn't take long for Sanchez to find a replacement.

, who transferred from Paraclete of Lancaster, made the transition from outside hitter to setter. She has proven to be a solid replacement in a position Robertson dominated.

``(Kasha's) a competitor,'' Sanchez said. ``We thought it was going to be a rebuilding stage, but she filled in a void. And with the talent she has here around her, we have a shot at winning. She's brought the team to a high level.''

``I'll be out there against Hart,'' Kasha said. ``I'll just tape it up really good and take a bunch of Advil.''

Valencia and Saugus entered the season as the favorites to contend for the league title. Hart was not considered to title contender despite returning seven players.

But that didn't keep first-year coach Mary Krisan's team from trying to prove otherwise.

``What actually fired us up is newspapers saying we're the sleeper Sleeper

team ... we're a surprise,'' Krisan said. ``They didn't know where to place us. I kept showing the girls those articles and told them, `Look what they're saying about you -- are you going to prove to them different?'

``It's not really anyone's fault that they didn't think Hart can pull it off. But the team is stronger because we have seven seniors who want to leave high school with having the title up on the board.''

The Indians have won five straight matches, including eight of nine, led by opposite hitter Caitlyn Ramirez and outside hitter Gazelle gazelle, name for the many species of delicate, graceful antelopes of the genus Gazella, inhabiting arid, open country. Most gazelles are found only in Africa, but several species range over N Africa and SW Asia; the Persian, or goitered, gazelle (  d'Artois.

``She's the loudest,'' Krisan said of Ramirez. ``She's so intense it used to scare the other girls. The way she screams, the way she yells, the way she jumps up in the air and gets excited gets the team going.

``That's what a team captain ought to do.''

Ramirez's ability to find open space and her intensity spark the Indians' attack. D'Artois, a three-year varsity starter, compliments the offense with powerful hits, solid serving and her agility to drop back and play defense.

``This season we've had an up-and-down season,'' Ramirez said. ``We had the skills, but mentally we weren't there in the beginning, but (Krisan) focused on that, and now we're where we want to be.

``They (Valencia) are going to bring their `A' game, and we have to bring ours. They're a skilled team and they are going to come out hard. The person who wants it more will come out on top.''
