BATTERY TECHNOLOGIES ANNOUNCES THE APPOINTMENT OF H. NEIL NICHOLS AS DIRECTOR, PRESIDENT AND CEO OF THE CORPORATION

 RICHMOND HILL, Ontario, Jan. 6 /PRNewswire/ - Mr. Paul Marshall, chairman, Battery Technologies Inc., is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. H. Neil Nichols, C.M.A., as a director, president and chief executive officer of the Corporation.
 Mr. Nichols brings the experience of a lengthy career with TransCanada PipeLines Limited where he held a number of senior positions, including chief financial officer and as executive vice- president. For the past three years Mr. Nichols has been a management consultant and more recently a director and president of Denning Mobile Robotics, Inc., a high technology company located in Massachusetts.
 Mr. Nichols is also a member of the board of directors of the Union Bank of Switzerland (Canada) and is chairman and interim chief executive officer of Nova Scotia Resources Limited.
 Mr. Nichols' appointment reflects the BTI commitment to it's shareholders to ensure the successful evolution of the corporation over the next several years.
 Since 1987, BTI has researched and developed the patented Rechargeable Alkaline Manganese (RAM) battery technology, which is now being licensed to companies worldwide. The RAM technology combines the performance characteristics of the single use alkaline battery with the economic and environmental benefits of rechargeability. RAM products are expected to be available from two licensee manufacturers this year.
