BATESOLE GETS 4-YEAR CONTRACT.

Mike Batesole, who endured the temporary cancellation of the Cal State Northridge baseball program two years ago, agreed to a four-year contract Thursday.

Batesole will be paid $81,600 per year, up from the $69,000 he made under his old contract, which expired ex·pire

``The (contract duration) was extremely important to me,'' Batesole said. ``We started rebuilding this thing in the right way. I want to see this (freshman) class all the way through.''

Batesole, whose four-year record is 158-86-1, was Collegiate col·le·giate

 Baseball's 1998 national Coach of the Year after the Matadors went 37-19. The program was canceled in 1997, then reinstated two months later.
