BAT OUT OF CELL; Meat Loaf's double is too nervous for court's work.

Byline: BILLY PATERSON EXCLUSIVE

MEAT LOAF impersonator Peter O'Brien has played dozens of big gigs - even one for Scots race ace David Coulthard David Marshall Coulthard, often called DC, born March 27, 1971 in Twynholm, Kirkcudbrightshire, is a Scottish Formula One racing driver. He is a successful driver in the current era of the sport with 13 grand prix victories. .

But when O'Brien was sentenced to do community service for driving illegally he claimed he couldn't do the unpaid work because he suffered from nerves.

O'Brien, who calls himself Peat Loaf after the Bat Out Of Hell rocker, didn't produce any medical certificates when he appeared from custody at Ayr Sheriff Court last week.

The roly-poly 42-year-old - also known as Pete Rossi - was sentenced last July to 240 hours of community service when police caught him driving while disqualified dis·qual·i·fy

To date, the dad-of-four, from Barassie, Ayrshire, has only managed to calm his nerves long enough to do seven and a half hours of the work.

O'Brien disputes he has breached the court order and says he has doctor's certificates to prove he is suffering from "nervous disability".

But he has failed to produce any proof on four occasions and he has been ordered to appear again at Ayr Sheriff Court next month.

When he was sentenced in September, Ayr Sheriff Court heard that O'Brien tried to hoodwink hood·wink

But his real fame isn't his starring roles in Scottish courts.

The rock megastar said O'Brien would be the ideal man to play him in a movie based on his autobiography.

Meat Loaf added: "They'll be needing a big feller so I'm going to suggest Peat Loaf - why the hell not? The guy's a dead ringer for me 20 years ago. He'll just have to work on his American accent."

But the project may have to be put on hold. If Peat Loaf can't do his community service he may land a new role... in jail.

Last night he had "no comment to make".
