Local girls' basketball players Jessica Honnen, Jean Garong and Janelle Spindt are on the their way to Dublin to represent the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area.  in the 12th annual 2003 World Special Olympics Summer Games.

 of Canyon High is ranked the No. 20 quarterback prospect in the nation, according to ESPN's Tom Lemming lemming, name for several species of mouselike rodents related to the voles. --Congratulations to the Diamondbacks of Canyon Country East Little League. They went 20-0 this past season to become the league's first undefeated team before losing in the first round of the Tournament of Champions.

--The Santa Clarita Community Center Boxing Program will host a $3 pancake breakfast beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Newhall American Legion American Legion, national association of male and female war veterans, founded (1919) in Paris. Membership is open to veterans of World Wars I and II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.  at 24527 Spruce Street. Proceeds benefit the program, providing uniforms and equipment.

``We hope the community shows supports for our youth programs and comes to the breakfast,'' supervisor Hope Horner said.

--In other SC Community Center boxing news, Samuel Chavez won the 117-pound championship at a boxing show in Northridge last month. He's been training at the center for a year.

--Nick Prange of the Antelope Valley Northerners hockey team won the first $1,000 College Head Start Scholarship at Ice Station Valencia, sponsored by Valencia Nissan.

--Line Drive Baseball Academy in Valencia is conducting a three-day baseball and softball camp beginning at 9 a.m. June 30. The cost is $150. Information: (661) 255-3059.
