BASKETBALL NOTEBOOK: DOMINGO HAS JOB LINED UP.

Byline: Vincent Bonsignore Staff Writer

Sometimes it just helps to be in the right place at the right time.

A case in point is former Valencia Valencia, region, Spain
Valencia (välān`thēä), autonomous region (1990 pop. 3,902,429) and former kingdom, E Spain, on the Mediterranean. It now comprises the provinces of Alicante, Castellón, and Valencia.

Domingo, who is half-Filipino, jumped at the chance.

``To get paid to play basketball, I mean it doesn't get any better than that,'' he said, ``so I'm definitely excited.''

Domingo was surprised by the offer.

``None of this was even on my agenda as of a month ago, but once I talked to the coach then sat down and talked with my dad about it, I decided this is something I want to pursue,'' he said.

Domingo will play point guard in college, but he's not sure what position he will play professionally.

``I'll play wherever they need me,'' he said.

--Three aces: Domingo will be joined at COC by former Valencia teammates Curtis Dunwoody and Andrew Bruckner.

``It makes it a lot easier knowing I'll have some familiar faces around me,'' Domingo said.

But don't expect Valencia coach Rocket Collins to share in Domingo's excitement about playing with Dunwoody and Bruckner. It's Collins' job to replace the three standouts, something he's working on this summer with his young Vikings.

``I'm not sure you can ever replace three guys like that,'' Collins said. ``You just do the best you can. But I mean, I made those guys captains last year. Scott was a leader who got on people, Andrew was pretty quiet but he led by example with his work ethic work ethic

So far, the transition is going smoothly. The Vikings are 4-1 playing in two summer leagues, and though they lost a lot of size, they gained quickness and athletic ability.

Among the players Valencia is counting on are Chad Allen Chad Allen may refer to:

Lott was the Vikings' second-leading scorer.

``We're just going to continue to try to develop these guys, but I feel good about what we have to work with,'' Collins said.
