BASKETBALL: BROWN'S 25 POINTS LEAD PEPPERDINE PAST ST. MARY'S.

Gerald Brown had a game-high 25 points and grabbed nine rebounds as Pepperdine easily defeated St. Mary's 91-65 on Friday in Malibu.

Pepperdine (12-7, 4-3) was never seriously threatened, leading 44-32 at the half. Besides Brown, four other players scored in double figures. Jelani Gardner had 18 points and eight assists, while Bryan Hill and Kelvin Gibbs each added 12 and Marc McDowell had 11.

No. 11 Princeton 86, Cornell 61: Gabe Lewullis scored eight of his career-high 24 points during a late first-half run, sparking the host Tigers (15-1, 3-0) to their 18th straight Ivy League win.

Women

No. 3 Old Dominion 81, James Madison 59: In Norfolk, Va., Nyree Roberts scored 22 points and Mery Andrade added 16 points and six steals as the Lady Monarchs beat the Dukes.

Iowa 82, No. 8 Illinois 71: Amy Herrig scored 19 points and Angela Hamblin added 17, leading the Hawkeyes (10-8 overall, 7-2 Big Ten) at Iowa City, Iowa.

No. 12 North Carolina St. 64, Wake Forest 46: In Raleigh, N.C., Chasity Melvin had 17 points and nine rebounds to help the Wolfpack See Microsoft Cluster Server. (17-3, 8-2) retake a share of the ACC lead.

Maryland 54, No. 13 Duke 53: Sonia Chase hit a 15-footer with 5.3 seconds left to lift the host Terrapins terrapin (tĕr`əpĭn), name for several edible turtles of fresh or brackish water..

No. 16 Virginia 93, Georgia Tech 57: Kate Mooney scored a career-high 20 points, and DeMya Walker and Mimi McKinney had 19 points apiece as the Cavaliers beat the Engineers in Charlottesville, Va.

No. 20 Wisconsin 72, Michigan St. 65: Ann Klapperich scored 21 points and LaTonya Sims added 16 to lead the host Badgers (16-6, 5-5 Big Ten).
