BASIS receives Pacific Bell Quality Partner Award for fourth consecutive year.


SAN RAMON, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 16, 1995--BASIS, Inc., a premier systems integrator An individual or organization that builds systems from a variety of diverse components. With increasing complexity of technology, more customers want complete solutions to information problems, requiring hardware, software and networking expertise in a multivendor environment.

Some of the major systems integrators are Accenture (formerly Andersen Consulting), Price Waterhouse, Computer Sciences Corporation, IBM Global Services, HP, Compaq, Ernst & Young, EDS and
 based in Emeryville, Calif., was recognized with Pacific Bell's 1994 Bronze Quality Partner Plan Award at a Quality Partner Day ceremony in San Ramon.

The award recognizes BASIS' commitment to continuous quality improvement in meeting Pacific Bell's product and service needs.

"We're highly gratified that our efforts to combine quality and efficiency as a systems integrator for Pacific Bell have been recognized the past four years," said Patricia Shanks, president of the 14-year-old open systems integrator. "We appreciate the feedback since it helps us serve Pacific Bell better and gives us insights on how we can improve services for all our clients," she added.

"To offer our Customers top quality at fair prices, we need to receive that in products and services we purchase," said Bob Russell, Director of Procurement Quality Management.

"We spend over $2 billion a year on purchases, and we want to eliminate unnecessary expenses wherever possible," he said. "We realized we had to take proactive and positive steps to increase supplier quality more quickly. The result was our Quality Partner Program which gives vendors ongoing performance feedback, encouragement for improvement, and finally, recognition for results.

"As supplier quality has improved, we've seen fewer product defects, late deliveries, incorrect billing, and reduced total cost of ownership," Russell said.

BASIS has received a Bronze Quality Partner Award each year for its work for Pacific Bell during 1991, 1992, 1993, and 1994. This included consulting, hardware and software sales, system design and support, and programming.
