BASIC TRAINING.


Q: I have always done some sort of exercise. But ever since I switched jobs it's hard for me to get back into the swing of things. What would you suggest?

A: A change in your regular routine takes some adjusting and many people go through this when they start a new job, take care of children, start school, take care of parents or move to a new city.

The best way to get the most out of every day is to create a schedule. You have to plan your workouts into your agenda just like you do any other important meeting. The one great exception is that this meeting is for you! I also suggest that you schedule your grocery shopping and meal preparation time as well.

Here is an example of a weekly schedule:

Monday, 6 a.m.: 30 minutes power walk or jog.

Saturday, 8 a.m.: 45 minute spinning class or outdoor cycling.

Sunday: Rest, grocery shop and prepare meals for next week.

FITNESS TIP

Oxygen is necessary at the site of the muscle cell to burn fat. Practice deep breathing throughout the day in three-to-five-minute intervals. Inhale for three seconds and exhale exhale /ex·hale/ (eks´hal) to breathe out.

 for three seconds. Once you accomplish three seconds, lengthen it to four seconds, then five seconds, six seconds ... until you get to 10 seconds. This will help improve your lung capacity. Also try this when you are exercising.
