BASIC TRAINING.

Q: I would like to know if you should eat dinner and then exercise, or exercise then eat?

A: You can do it both ways; it just depends on your schedule. I personally prefer training before dinner because after I eat, all I want to do is relax. But here are tips for both options:

Exercising before dinner

If you are going to exercise in the late afternoon, try having a 100- to 200-calorie snack, such as a piece of fruit or mixed berries with Greek yogurt one hour before you exercise.

v.tr.
1. To remove water from; make anhydrous.

2. To preserve by removing water from (vegetables, for example).
. It is important that you replenish the water that you lost during your workout before you start eating.

Remember portion control! This is the last meal of the day. You don't need to stuff your face just to fall asleep. Dinner should be the smallest meal of the day, about 300 to 450 calories for a 1,600- to 1,800-calorie diet. Try making breakfast and lunch the larger meals.

For dinner, include protein and vegetables. Avoid starches such as rice, pasta, potatoes, bread or tortillas.

Make sure you're eating two to three hours before your bedtime. A great dinner is a piece of broiled broil 1

salmon with broccoli and tomatoes or salad. You don't want to go to bed with processed food or starches in your stomach because they will just turn into fat!

Exercising after dinner:

Wait at least 30 to 60 minutes after your meal before you work out. You may not feel like doing a high-intensity workout with a stomach full of food, but a power walk or light jog may feel great.

Keep in mind that if your workout in the evening is cardio, it can give you a boost of energy, and it may take you a few hours to come back down before you feel like going to sleep. Conversely, if your after-dinner workout is weight training, you may feel like sleeping afterward.
