BASF receives EPA approval for chain extender.

, Florham Park, NJ, has received approval from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), independent agency of the U.S. government, with headquarters in Washington, D.C. It was established in 1970 to reduce and control air and water pollution, noise pollution, and radiation and to ensure the safe handling and  to market its new aliphatic aliphatic /al·i·phat·ic/ (al?i-fat´ik) pertaining to any member of one of the two major groups of organic compounds, those with a straight or branched chain structure.

, modified isophoronediamine (mIPDA) chain extender, which is used in formulating light-stable polyurea coatings. These coatings are used to seal concrete floors, for example. The mIPDA chain extender, which was developed in cooperation with The Hanson Group LLC, will be sold under the trade name Polyclear 136.
