BASF launches 2-propylheptyl acrylate.BASF BASF Bar Association of San Francisco (since 1872; San Francisco, California) BASF Badische Anilin und Soda Fabrik (German chemical products company) BASF Builders Association of South Florida is expanding its portfolio of specialty monomers and launching its new product 2-propylheptyl acrylate Noun 1. acrylate - a salt or ester of propenoic acid propenoate salt - a compound formed by replacing hydrogen in an acid by a metal (or a radical that acts like a metal) (2-PHA). This is a new raw material and building block for functional polymers Functional polymers are polymers with advanced optic and/or electronic properties. Advantages of functional polymers are low cost, ease of processing and a range of attractive mechanical characteristics for functional organic molecules. . 2-PHA belongs to the group of alkyl alkyl /al·kyl/ (al´k'l) the monovalent radical formed when an aliphatic hydrocarbon loses one hydrogen atom. al·kyl n. acrylates and has the advantage of achieving improved results for pressure sensitive adhesives, including adhesion and tack. This is due to the longer alkyl chain compared with other monomers. In addition, with 2-PHA the glass temperature of the homopolymer is 10[degrees]C lower than with 2-ethylhexyl acrylate, an acrylate commonly used to manufacture adhesives. 2-PHA is based on the precursor 2-propylheptanol (2-PH). |
