 Corporation has acquired certain of the assets of privately-held Hess Polyurethanes, Inc. in a move to expand BASF's presence in the rigid and spray foam products business. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Hess produces polyurethane products at its facility in Atlanta, GA. The Hess plant will continue operations under a tolling agreement with BASF. Hess customers will see no changes in product availability and no interruption in services.

MacLean "Mac" Hess, founder of Hess Polyurethanes, will assist the BASF management team overseeing expansion and operation of the company's spray foam business.

The Hess transaction is BASF's second acquisition of a polyurethane systems producer this year. In February, BASF acquired the polyurethane systems business IPI (Intelligent Peripheral Interface) A high-speed hard disk interface used with minis and mainframes that transfers data in the 10 to 25 MBytes/sec range.
