Lenny Dykstra
Leonard Kyle (Lenny) Dykstra (born February 10, 1963 in Santa Ana, California, also known as Nails[1]) is a former Major League Baseball outfielder.
has penciled in an all-star lineup of current and former baseball greats to appear at the grand opening of his carwash and repair business Saturday.

Lenny Dykstra's Car Wash will offer a tasty solution to folks standing around waiting for their vehicles to be cleaned or serviced - an on-site pizza parlor and cappuccino cap·puc·ci·no

``It's the finest carwash and auto service area combined in the world,'' said the three-time all-star with the Phillies and the Mets. ``There's nothing like that. When people have the choice of going to the Ritz-Carlton or the Motel 6 for the same price, it's not a tough choice to make.''

The 32,000-square-foot facility includes a 16-bay garage for tuneups, alignments, brake work and oil changes - with a free carwash for anyone who has his or her vehicle serviced.

Saturday's opening represents culmination of a longstanding legal battle with rival First Street Carwash, which has opposed the pair's plans since they purchased the 2-1/2-acre parcel more than four years ago.

First Street owner Noordin Yusufaly persuaded a Ventura County court to overturn the city Planning Commission's 1995 approval of the project on the grounds that the parcel falls within a provision of the city general plan requiring an amendment for properties an acre or more.

The City Council later approved an amendment.

``This guy was able to delay us close to three years,'' said Jones. ``He protected his business as long as he could, because he knew as soon as we opened, he'd have competition.''

Dykstra, who plans to move from the Philadelphia area to Lake Sherwood Village after construction of his home is complete next August, vowed not to be an absentee owner.

``If I'm going to put my name on it, it's going to be done right,'' he said, adding that his partnership invested about $5.5 million in the project.

Dykstra and Jones opened their first business in Corona in January 1994, offering a carwash and three-bay oil change garage.
