BASEBALL FUNDRAISER A HIT WITH COPS, KIDS.

A team of police officers will face off Saturday against a squad of personalities during the fifth annual LAPD-Celebrity Swing-A-Thon, a daylong charity fund-raiser designed to increase the Police Department's interaction with the public.

The Swing-A-Thon begins at 10 a.m. Saturday at El Cariso County Park, 13100 Hubbard St., Sylmar. An opening ceremony and celebrity introductions are scheduled for 12:30 p.m., with the home run derby This is about the Major League Baseball contest. For the 1959 television show of the same name, see Home Run Derby (TV series).

The Home Run Derby is an event played prior to the Major League Baseball All-Star Game.
