this year, but this time Thousand Oaks was on the losing end. The Lancers' bid to defend their Div. II title ended Tuesday with a 3-0 loss to Dos Pueblos of Goleta in the wild-card round.

Thousand Oaks' fortune began to turn before the playoffs started. The Lancers got their league title this year, sharing the Marmonte championship with Moorpark, but that wasn't enough to get them a better playoff draw. Thousand Oaks was the only division team to finish higher than third in its league and have to play a wild-card game. The Lancers lost three of their final four regular-season games.
