BASEBALL: CHATSWORTH STREAK HITS 9 CLEVELAND LOSES IN A ROUT CHATSWORTH 14, CLEVELAND 2.

Byline: Heather Gripp Staff Writer

Chatsworth High romped to its ninth consecutive victory Monday, riding an explosive offense that pounded 16 hits in a 14-2 rout of host Cleveland of Reseda in a West Valley League game called after six innings because of the 10-run mercy rule A mercy rule, also well known by the slightly less polite term slaughter rule (or, less commonly, knockout rule and skunk rule), brings a sports event to an early end when one team has a very large and presumably insurmountable lead over the other team. .

The Chancellors (13-1, 3-0), who have outscored opponents 50-2 in their past four games, are tied for the West Valley lead with El Camino Real El Camino Real (Spanish for The Royal Road or The King's Highway) was the name of a series of pre-automobile highways linking the various New World colonies of Spain:

of Woodland Hills, which beat Birmingham of Lake Balboa 10-0 in a five-inning game. Cleveland (10-4, 2-1) lost a share of the lead.

Chatsworth entered the game with a .394 batting average batting average

Cleveland starter Justin Kaid (4-2) held Chatsworth hitless through two innings, but the Chancellors batted around in the third. A leadoff double by J.C. Barker sparked a six-run inning that featured consecutive doubles by Carlos Najar, Mike Moustakas Mike Moustakas (born September 11, 1988 at Chatsworth, California) is a Shortstop[1] who was drafted by the Kansas City Royals of Major League Baseball 2nd overall in the 2007 Major League Baseball Draft.  and Matt Dominguez Matt Dominguez (born June 27, 1978 in Georgetown, Texas, United States) is a top receiver for the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League. Coyle extended the lead to 9-1 with a three-run home run in the fourth.

Barker and Andrew Baslow both finished 3 for 4, and every Chatsworth starter reached base.

Cleveland, playing without sophomore standout Andrew Lambo, went ahead in the first when Angel Nunez doubled in Joe Almendarez. It was the first run Chatsworth has given up in four games. Garret Shimamoto homered in the fourth for the Cavaliers.

Chatsworth's Darren Norris (5-0) allowed seven hits in six innings.
