BART Extra for Black & White Ball.


OAKLAND, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 2, 1999--

BART is doing something special to accommodate early morning travelers returning home from the San Francisco San Francisco (săn frănsĭs`kō), city (1990 pop. 723,959), coextensive with San Francisco co., W Calif., on the tip of a peninsula between the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay, which are connected by the strait known as the Golden  Black & White Ball, which is being held this coming Saturday, June 5.

BART plans to provide an additional early Sunday morning Sunday Morning may refer to:
  • "Sunday Morning (radio program)", a Canadian radio program formerly aired on CBC Radio One
  • CBS News Sunday Morning, a television news program on CBS in the United States
  • Sunday Morning (TBS TV series)
 train which will depart the Colma Station for Pittsburg/Bay Point in the east bay shortly after the transit system's regularly scheduled last train departure at 12:00 midnight.

The special Black & White Ball train will go to the Civic Center Station There are at least three rail stations with the name Civic Center Station:
  • Civic Center (Metrorail station), in Miami, Florida
  • Civic Center (MARTA station), in Atlanta, Georgia
  • Civic Center Station (San Francisco), in San Francisco, California
 where it will hold until 12:40 a.m., where it will then depart for the east bay, leaving the Powell Street Station Powell Street Station is a Muni Metro and Bay Area Rapid Transit station near the intersection of Market Street and Powell Street in downtown San Francisco, California. The station is located along the Market Street Subway and extends underground from Fourth Street to Fifth Street.  at 12:41 a.m., Montgomery Street Station Montgomery Street Station is a Muni Metro and Bay Area Rapid Transit station in the Financial District of San Francisco, California. It is located on the Market Street Subway beneath Market Street, between Montgomery Street and Sansome Street.  at 12:43 a.m., and Embarcadero Station at 12:45 a.m.

In order to ensure that BART riders taking the extra train from San Francisco are able to make last train-to-train transfers at the MacArthur Station in Oakland, all trains will be held until the extra train from Colma/San Francisco arrives. Thus, the last train for San Francisco/Colma from the MacArthur Station will depart at approximately 1:16 a.m. and arrive in Colma at 1:44 a.m.

BART officials noted that the West Oakland Station will be closed for the entire operating day Saturday while work to renovate the platform edges is conducted.
