BART Dedicates Fremont Station Clock Tower.

Silliman, who was a member of the BART Board during its early days, from 1962 to 1974, was president of the Board when the system opened in 1972. He passed away last year.

The project began over a year ago as an outgrowth of discussions between Blalock and the former president of the Fremont Bank, Morris Hyman, on the bank's desire to pay special recognition to Silliman for his years of public service and his work to improve public transportation in the Bay Area. Silliman had also served on the Newark City Council and was a long-time employee and director of the bank.

The dedication ceremony was held at 10 a.m.
