BARRA Releases Real-Time Risk Analysis Tool.

:BARZ) today announced the release of a real-time equity portfolio risk analysis tool, Riskcaster(TM) Real-Time 3.0.

Riskcaster Real-Time 3.0 works with BARRA's US Short Term Risk Model, providing an interface to a real-time feed, allowing prices and portfolio risk characterization to be updated on demand or at a set frequency. The real-time optimization capability improves tracking performance particularly in periods of high volatility.

The real-time capability enables dealers, market-makers, and traders to manage inventory risk intra-day, which is particularly critical during periods of high volatility," said Harish Lakhani, senior product manager of BARRA's equity trading In finance, equity trading is the buying and selling of company stock shares. Riskcaster Real-Time 3.0 is configured to work with Market Vision's MVLink, to provide open access to real-time information. Market Vision, an established leader in real-time information management and distribution software for the financial community, provides software for over 30 data services.

Customization for other vendors' or proprietary toolkits is also possible. In addition Riskcaster Real-Time 3.0 can be adapted to interface to trade entry systems, enabling Riskcaster to capture entered trades and immediately update a portfolio's risk characteristics. A sample trade entry system is included with the system to demonstrate this capability.
