BARNETT NAMES COVINGTON DIRECTOR OF MARKETING JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Dec. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Barnett Banks, Inc.
(NYSE: BBI) has named James Covington director of marketing. Covington will be responsible for systemwide marketing strategies.
Covington, 37, joined Barnett Banks, Inc. in 1981 as marketing research and planning director. In 1984, he was appointed director of retail marketing, and in 1988 he joined Barnett Bank of Pinellas County as branch administrator. "After a nationwide search for the best marketing talent, it is particularly gratifying to have one of our own beat out the competition," said Thomas P. Johnson Jr., chief retail banking executive for Barnett Banks, Inc. Covington has a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Alabama. He resides in Jacksonville.
