 JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Dec. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Barnett Bank is


serving as the major corporate sponsor for the Florida Endowment Fund for Higher Education's seventh annual Black History and Culture Brain Bowl.
 Barnett is contributing $25,000 to sponsor competitions at the local, regional and state levels. The annual black history and culture competition provides socially disadvantaged students an incentive to learn more about their heritage. The finals are to be held in Tampa on Dec. 13 and 14.
 Participating students must read at least seven history books and study 2,000 facts on history, sports, lifestyles, music and arts. Questions at the competition will center on world and American history with an emphasis on African-American culture.
 Winners at the state level are awarded scholarships to a college or university in Florida. Other awards include gift certificates, trophies, plaques and savings bonds.
