Owner Heidi McAlear fills her store with manufacturer samples, overruns and close-outs. She also buys merchandise directly from Southern California Southern California, also colloquially known as SoCal, is the southern portion of the U.S. state of California. Centered on the cities of Los Angeles and San Diego, Southern California is home to nearly 24 million people and is the nation's second most populated region,  country club pro shops. As a result, some of the clothing may have resort or country club emblems.

While there are plenty of bargains to be found at Encore Sports - such as a nice selection of Alexa Sterling belted, collared vests for $36 instead of $75 or more retail - some of the merchandise is ordered to round out the inventory and is not quite as deeply discounted. For example, hard-to-find Morex microfiber spandex bra tops were $22 ($36 retail), and matching leggings leg·ging

Even if you aren't a golf or tennis player, most of the clothing at Encore Sports can be worn anywhere. The selection varies from visit to visit, so you might want to make monthly stops.

By the way, when we first heard about Encore Sports, we assumed the store specialized in resale goods. Just so you know, they do carry resale items, but only in ski and equestrian wear. For example, beautifully tailored Pytchley hunt coats were $95 ($375 and up new), a pair of Effingham boots worn just a few times was $96 ($300 new), and Spyder stretch ski pants ski pants
