R/3, coupled with Banyan's acclaimed StreetTalk Directory Service, BeyondMail, Intelligent Messaging and its TCP/IP Client support, enables mutual customers to create simple access to integrated business management applications using electronic messaging, and lays the foundation for the next generation of directory and mail integrated, standards-based computing.

Banyan's BeyondMail Extends SAP Applications to Store and Forward

Connections

Banyan's BeyondMail Rules-and-Forms technology enables users to simplify routine transactions between internal colleagues or partners outside the organization. Unlike WEB approaches requiring full-time connections between clients and servers, BeyondMail enables any application system to be extended to a store-and-forward messaging environment, thereby providing powerful and simple transaction support for internal, field or traveling professionals even when disconnected from the network. This system delivers the power of SAP's business process approach to the normal e-mail interface on which users depend for conducting daily business. Traveling, remote, or centrally connected users create transactions or inquiries with local business rules applied using their BeyondMail e-mail client supported by Intelligent Messaging or any SMTP mail environment. Requests can be routed to other colleagues for approval, modification, or informational purposes, or directly to the R/3 system for processing. The routing can take place at a later time, depending on the e-mail connection or immediately if directly connected to the network. Results are then available in the users normal e-mail in-box.

StreetTalk and Intelligent Messaging Integration

StreetTalk, Banyan's premier directory service, enables single login for SAP users operating in a Windows 95 Banyan networking environment. This seamless integration extends the inherent benefits of a single corporate directory to important line-of-business applications and simplifies the training, administration, and day-to-day use. Forwarding R/3 out-of-tolerance messages or reports using Intelligent Messaging to any StreetTalk user on the network or the Internet further integrates R/3 with every network users normal desktop environment. User information stored in StreetTalk directory attributes simplifies the deployment of BeyondMail applications by pre-configuring forms with default information about the user such as name information unique to a specific business may also be included in StreetTalk attributes.

Banyan's TCP/IP Client Support, available for almost two years, helps extend corporate client/server networks in a standard, open way to world-wide internal or partner users. Utilizing Banyan's TCP/IP products, based on technology licensed from Ipswitch, as the networking back-bone TCP/IP Client Support simplifies the deployment of R/3 and other popular applications.
