BANKBOSTON CHOOSES PEOPLESOFT.

BankBoston became one of Argentina's largest banks following its recent merger with Deutsche Bank. But after reviewing its partner's existing ERP system, BankBoston chose PeopleSoft to provide its full-suite business intelligence solution, commonly referred to as Enterprise Performance Management (EPM). BankBoston will implement the PeopleSoft solution -- which provides clients with all the analytical tools necessary to make critical executive decisions -- in Argentina, Chile, Uruguay and Mexico.

"BankBoston wanted a product that could handle all the key customer, accounting and financial issues with a focus on profitability, and the ERP that they had because of the merger with Deutsche Bank didn't satisfy them," said Alejandro Couce, PeopleSoft's regional sales manager in Buenos Aires. "The bank wanted to be able to analyze profitability by client, by channel and by product, as well as the risk of the capital. The bank also wanted to implement a data warehouse system and activity-based costing."

BankBoston is the latest financial services company to implement PeopleSoft's EPM system, which has already been selected by leading companies in the banking, insurance and accounting industries. "Of the top 10 Argentine banks, six of the seven that have selected an ERP company have chosen PeopleSoft," says Couce. "In Chile, our market share is three out of three."

PeopleSoft serves Latin America with multiple offices in Brazil and Mexico, as well as its Chile and Argentina offices and regional headquarters in Miami.

In addition to financial services and human resources, PeopleSoft's activity-based management systems provide solutions for manufacturers and other types of service companies. PeopleSoft's EPM solution was co-developed by Andersen Consulting and KPMG, based on models developed by Harvard Business School professors Robert Kaplan and Robin Cooper, the founders of activity-based costing.
