With a Fillmore branch slated to open by summer, the new name reflects the bank's expanding service area, said company President Tony Palmer. ``We will still in our hearts be Simi Valley Bank - but with growth we needed a more generic name generic name n. 1. The official nonproprietary name of a drug, under which it is licensed and identified by the manufacturer. 2. ,'' said Palmer, who noted that the change awaits stockholder approval. ``We don't only want people to think of our town, but their town, too.'' The 5,300-square-foot Fillmore branch will house about a dozen employees in the former Bank of A. Levy building on Sespe Avenue, Palmer said. With three branches in Simi Valley and one in Moorpark, it will become the fifth First Western branch in Ventura County. Bank Vice President Barbara Williamson, who has worked at Simi Valley Bank since it opened in 1981, stressed that business will continue as usual. ``We haven't been bought out. We haven't merged,'' Williamson said. ``We're only changing our name - promise.'' The board of directors spent five months seeking a name that would fit the bank's logo of a cowboy cowboy Horseman skilled at handling cattle in the U.S. West.
