BALTIMORE GAS AND ELECTRIC CELEBRATES A DECADE OF EXCELLENCE IN TEACHING: HONORS MARYLAND TEACHERS

 BALTIMORE, Nov. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (BG&E) yesterday honored four teachers named by the White House as Maryland's 1993 Presidential Awards Recipients for Excellence in Science and Mathematics Teaching.
 BG&E and the Maryland State Department of Education sponsor the local Maryland Presidential Awards for Excellence in Teaching Science and Mathematics. Jon M. Files, BG&E vice president Management Services, presented the awards at a ceremony held at the World Trade Center.
 Each winner will receive $7,500 from the National Science Foundation for their school, a visit to Washington, and a $1,000 award from BG&E for their outstanding professional accomplishments. Applicants for the award were judged on how they answered essays on today's educational challenges and methods to insure success in the classroom. The winners are:
 -- Elementary Science: S. Jeanne Reardon, Brooke Grove Elementary School, Montgomery County.
 -- Elementary Mathematics: Patricia E. Cartland, Chevy Chase Elementary School, Montgomery County.
 -- Secondary Science: Dale E. Peters, Linganore High School, Frederick County.
 -- Secondary Mathematics: Katherine K. Miles, Benjamin Stoddert Middle School, Charles County.
 BG&E has supported the educational community with programs for educators since 1947 and has been the sole state corporate sponsor of the Presidential Awards for Excellence since their inception in 1983. BG&E also contributes to the National recognition ceremony.
 In recognition of the 10th anniversary of the awards, BG&E produced a yearbook featuring the teachers honored in the past.
