BALTIMORE GAS AND ELECTRIC ANNOUNCES REDEMPTIONS OF FIRST REFUNDING MORTGAGE BONDS

 BALTIMORE, July 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (NYSE: BGE) announced today the full redemption of $43,440,000 of its 7-1/2 percent Series due July 1, 2002, First Refunding Mortgage Bonds.
 The $43,440,000 represents the principal amount of the bonds outstanding after accounting for those 7-1/2 percent Series due July 1, 2002, First Refunding Mortgage Bonds to be redeemed in connection with the company's annual sinking fund required by its First Refunding Mortgage. In addition, the company has also announced the redemption of $49,990,000 of its 7-1/2 percent Series due Sept. 15, 2002, First Refunding Mortgage Bonds. These redemptions will be made by Bankers Trust Company, trustee, pursuant to the provisions of the indenture.
 The 7-1/2 percent Series due July 1, 2002, First Refunding Mortgage Bonds will be redeemed on Sept. 1, 1993, at 102.14 percent of principal, plus accrued interest from July 1, 1993, to, but not including, Sept. 1, 1993. The transfer books for the 7-1/2 percent Series due July 1, 2002, First Refunding Mortgage Bonds will not be closed prior to the redemption date, but will be closed permanently at the opening of business on Sept. 1, 1993.
 The 7-1/2 percent Series due Sept. 15, 2002, First Refunding Mortgage Bonds will be redeemed on Sept. 15, 1993, at 102.18 percent of the principal amount thereof. Payment of interest due Sept. 15, 1993, will be made by check in the usual manner. The transfer books for the 7-1/2 percent Series due Sept. 15, 2002, First Refunding Mortgage Bonds will not be closed prior to the redemption date, but will be closed permanently at the opening of business on Sept. 15, 1993.
 Bondholders will receive a Notice of Redemption which is planned to be mailed on Aug. 2, 1993. Bonds may be presented in person to Bankers Trust Company, Corporate Trust and Agency Group, Securities Processing Services Division, at 123 Washington St., Receipt and Delivery, First Floor, New York, N.Y., 10006, or by mail to Bankers Trust Company, Corporate Trust and Agency Group, Securities Processing Services Division, Post Office Box 2579, Church Street Station, New York, N.Y., 10008. Bonds may also be presented in person to Mercantile-Safe Deposit and Trust Company, Corporate Trust Department, 2 Hopkins Plaza -- G Level, Baltimore, Md., 21201, or by mail to Mercantile-Safe Deposit and Trust Company, Corporate Trust Department, Post Office Box 2258, Baltimore, Md., 21203.
