BALS opens David Shear children's law center.In recognition of L. David Shear's efforts and contributions, Bay Area Legal Services legal services n. the work performed by a lawyer for a client. recently opened its L. David Shear Children's Law Center, dedicated to expediting permanency per·ma·nen·cy n. Permanence: tourists who were in awe of the permanency of the great pyramids of Egypt. Shear is a lifetime resident of Tampa, a partner with Ruden McClosky, and a former president of both The Florida Bar The Florida Bar is the mandatory state bar association for the state of Florida. It is the third largest such bar association in the United States. Its duties include the regulation and discipline of attorneys. and The Florida Bar Foundation. The center was named for Shear because of his record of dedicated service to the public, especially his support of the provision of legal services to the poor, according to according to prep. 1. The center collaborates with the courts, local children's agencies, and other groups serving abused, abandoned and neglected children. Shear established the L. David Shear Family Endowment through the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay to benefit the L. David Shear Children's Law Center of Bay Area Legal Services. Shear is the chair of the Bay Area Legal Services Development Council, which he helped to found.
