BALDWIN REPRIMANDED FOR COVER-UP : BUBB FACES DISCIPLINE BY CSUN OFFICIALS.

Byline: Kevin Acee Daily News Staff Writer

Along with whatever accolades he has received and might receive at Cal State Northridge, football coach Dave Baldwin's personnel file will also contain a formal letter of reprimand A letter of reprimand is a letter to an employee or soldier from his or her superior that details the wrongful actions of the person and the punishment that can be expected. . A story in Thursday's Daily News detailed events of the cover-up.

University president Blenda J. Wilson, who met with both Baldwin and Bubb on Thursday, plans to ask vice president of student affairs Student affairs staff are responsible for academic advising and support services delivery at colleges and universities in the United States and abroad. The chief student affairs officer at a college or university often reports directly to the chief executive of the institution.  Ron Kopita to investigate the athletic department's handling of the incident when he returns from vacation Monday.

``He will look at how I handled the situation, and there could be some disciplinary action taken against me by the vice president,'' Bubb said.

Wilson has also asked the university's chief of police to investigate the Aug. 9 shooting. Baldwin said that if information comes out that Blakey handled a gun at the party, the 20-year-old transfer from Antelope Valley College Antelope Valley College is a comprehensive community college located in Lancaster, California, USA. Witnesses also told police that Blakey had a pellet gun and pointed it at a partygoer and himself before being shot, an account Blakey vehemently denies.

The district attorney's office decided against pressing charges against the man who shot Blakey because there was strong evidence that the shooter acted in self-defense.

It was an apologetic Baldwin who met with reporters after Thursday's afternoon practice. His demeanor was in sharp contrast to that of the previous day.

``Coach Baldwin lied,'' Baldwin said. ``Regardless of what the circumstance was, I (was) wrong. I apologize to my campus community, and I apologize to my players.''

Bubb also accepted responsibility on Thursday. On Wednesday, he said the university erred and placed blame for poor judgment on Baldwin and former sports information assistant Scott Yoffe.

days before we sought to correct it,'' Bubb said Thursday.

Yoffe, who was named by Bubb in a newspaper story Thursday as the originator of the appendix story, angrily denied Thursday that he came up with the lie.

``I was not the guy,'' said Yoffe, who began his new job this week as an assistant in the San Diego Chargers' public relations office. ``I was involved, but the appendix is not my story. It was (Baldwin's) idea. I went along with it, but I was under orders.''

Bubb said Thursday that he did ``not remember saying who concocted the story.''

One source in the football program confirmed that Yoffe did not make up the story, but the source would not say who the originator was.

Baldwin said, ``You can say Coach Baldwin came up with it. I'll take the blame.''

Baldwin said he apologized to his team after Thursday's practice. He said the team knew the truth all along.

Big Sky Conference media relations director Ron Loghry said he expected commissioner Doug Fullerton would call Bubb to find out what happened. But Loghry said there would likely be no action taken by the conference.

``They didn't break any (conference) rules,'' he said.
