LANCASTER - Facing a fellow Canadian, JetHawks pitcher Chris Mears Christopher Peter Mears (born January 20, 1978 in Ottawa, Ontario) is a Canadian baseball pitcher.

Mears plays for the Toledo Mud Hens, the AAA affiliate of Major League Baseball's Detroit Tigers.

 bragging rights were damaged in the third and fell apart in the fifth, lifting Cozier and the Blaze past the JetHawks 7-4 in front of 4,009 at Lancaster Municipal Stadium.

Mears (9-7), an Ontario native now living in Victoria, British Columbia, already lost to Ontario resident Cozier (7-7) on July 31 in Bakersfield's 12-11 win.

Mears got through the first two innings unscathed Thursday, but Guillermo Rodriguez led off the third with a solo homer. The Blaze tied it with two unearned runs.

With one out in the fourth, Brett Casper finished off Mears with a grand slam after the Blaze loaded the bases on a single and two walks.
