BAKER & McKENZIE NOMINATES NEW CHAIRMAN; JOHN C. KLOTSCHE, A SENIOR PARTNER IN THE PALO ALTO OFFICE, WILL BE NEW CHAIR OF WORLD'S LARGEST LAW FIRM.


SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 29, 1995--Baker & McKenzie, the world's largest law firm with more than 1,700 attorneys and 54 offices around the globe, announced today that a senior partner in the firm's Palo Alto Palo Alto, city, California

Klotsche's nomination will be voted upon by Baker & McKenzie's 511 partners at the end of the firm's Annual Meeting in October October: see month. . He will succeed John V. McGuigan, who is stepping down at the end of his three-year term in order to attend to family business in Australia.

Klotcshe now serves as a senior partner in the firm's Palo Alto office, where his practice is focused on federal income tax issues for corporate clients -- especially audit and appeals issues at IRS An abbreviation for the Internal Revenue Service, a federal agency charged with the responsibility of administering and enforcing internal revenue laws.  administrative levels, and in the courts. He also advises multinational clients on U.S. tax implications of transnational and cross-border investment activities. Klotsche joined Baker & McKenzie in 1968 as a specialist in international tax issues. In addition to Palo Alto, he also has worked in the Chicago office and in the Dallas office, which he helped open. Klotsche is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin Law School Facilities

He is returning to Australia to devote more attention to his family responsibilities, though he will continue to play an active role in the firm's management from Sydney as a member of the Executive Committee.

Baker & McKenzie is the world's largest law firm, with 1,750 attorneys who practice in 54 offices located in 33 countries.
