Jeanne Foote Bailey, former society editor of the Daily News, died Wednesday of cancer. She was 76.

 resident since 1947, Bailey was married to TV producer Edwin B. Bailey. After his death, she started a writing career and did work for the television game show ``Crosswits.'' She also wrote book reviews for the Pasadena Star-News The Pasadena Star-News is the local daily newspaper for Pasadena, California. The Star-News is a member of the Los Angeles Newspaper Group. Bailey was born in Appleton, Wis., on Jan. 5, 1922. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa Phi Beta Kappa: see fraternity.

Leading academic honour society in the U.S., which draws its membership from college and university students. The oldest Greek-letter society in the U.S.
 from Lawrence College in Wisconsin.

She began work at the Daily News on May 12, 1986, and served as society editor until her retirement Dec. 16, 1990.

She is survived by her children, Brooke Bailey Johnson, William Johnson, William (1771–1834) Supreme Court justice; born in Charleston, S.C. He served in the South Carolina legislature (1794–98) and the state's high court (1798–1804) before President Jefferson named him to the U.S.  E. Bailey, Robert C. Bailey and Brian E. Bailey; and by her grandchildren, Bailey and Lee Johnson, and Madison, McKenna, Katie and Colleen Bailey.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Cyril of Jerusalem Catholic Church in Encino. Memorial donations in her name may be sent to Rancho San Antonio Rancho San Antonio may refer to:
