EVER since the day he scooted home in the competitive Royal Gloucestershire Hussars Novices[sup.3] Hurdle at Cheltenham more than four years ago, Ambobo has looked the right type for the Festival.

Running the French-bred gelding in the World Hurdle against the likes of My Way De Solzen, Baracouda and Mighty Man was perhaps premature at Ambobo's stage of development, even though he ran respectably.

But he has since made the switch to Grand National winning trainer Martin Brassill's operation in Ireland and performed with credit - notably in his most recent runs at Punchestown and Naas, where he was spotted making late headway.

The runs smacked of a Festival preparation job and the nine-year-old can score at a tasty price in tomorrow's Coral Cup Handicap Hurdle (4.00), in which he has been allotted 10st 2lbs.

Willie Mullins has high hopes for Cooldine, who will take all the beating in the RSA Chase (2.40), while Master Minded will need to be run way below form not to win the Queen Mother Champion Chase (3.20).

And the giant Quwetwo can land the Ballymore Novices Hurdle (2.05).
