Drysdale matched Charlie Whittingham's 1971 record of 14 stakes victories at a Santa Anita meet when Mufattish and leading jockey Kent Desormeaux won the Royal Owl Handicap on turf. Desormeaux rode four other winners Monday to finish with 89, topping Gary Stevens by 18.
